The series was adapted into a musical. Saiyuki Musical: Go West, first run from September 13 - 21, 2008 and it even was followed by a second musical named Saiyuki Musical: Dead or Alive (2009). The musical is now available in DVD format. There has no announcement yet if there's gonna be a third musical.
